Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The structures of some organopolysilanes having asymmetric side-chains have been examined by comparing the theoretical X-ray diffraction pattern with the experimental one. It is suggested that the backbone conformation of poly(ethyl-butyl silane), poly(butyl-pentyl silane), and poly(methyl-cyclo-hexyl silane) is 7/3 herix, and the molecules are randomly rotated around the c axis in the case of poly(ethyl-butyl silane). It is also found that the conductivity along the direction vertical to the film surface is smaller by about three or four orders of magnitudes than that along the direction parallel to the film surface. The result can be explained by the highly oriented character of the film.
