Abstract(in English) Organic saturable absorber working in 1.5μm wavelength region, at which EDFA (Erbium-doped fiber amplifier) works, was found. Manganese phthalocyanine (MnPc) thin film prepared on quartz substrate by vacuum deposition showed a broad absorption from 1.2μm to 1.9μm peaking at 1.5μm. In irradiating CW laser beams (1.53μm and 1.48μm) to the MnPc film, increase of transmittance was observed as beam intensity increased. Saturation parameter, at which absorption coefficient becomes a half was estimated to be in the order of tens of kW/cm^2.
