Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | A variety of polymers were investigated as candidates for the formation of oriented layers by friction transfer. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), poly-p-phenylene (PPP) and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) were found to yield oriented transfer layers. Friction-transferred UHMWPE layer was composed of rod-like crystallites crossing at 90° to the friction direction. High-density polyethylene (HDPE) grew homo- and hetroepitaxy from vapor phase on friction-transferred UHMWPE and PTFE layers, respectively. The orientation of deposited HDPE depended on the morphology of polymer friction-transferred layers used as substrate. |
