Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Many structures are damaged by metalic rust and destroyed by oxidation and deterioration. Therefore, it is important to prevent rust from developing to protect structures from deterioration. In this expriment, a piece of iron is placed in the liquid extract of effective micro-organisms applied extract(EM・X), and its weight was measured to detect weight change due to rust. However, measurement indicated that red rust did not develop on the piece of iron placed in EM-X; thereby, no weight decrease was observed. Furthermore, a metalic complex which is capable of preventing rust to develop was isolated and analyzed by X-ray to determine its chemical structure.
