Performance Estimation Technique for Datapath Width Optimization

Abstract(in English) The datapath width of a core processor has a strong effect on cost, performance and power of an embedded system. "Determining the optimal datapath width for an application"is very attractive approach to optimize the system.However, the known approaches for solving this problem need a number of simulations to be carried out for determining the optimal datapath width. These are time consuming and expensive. The purpose of this work is to clarify supports required for reducing the number of simulations while determining the optimal datapath width. As a solution, we propose performance estimation technique for datapath width optimization. An experiment with a practical application shows that the number of steps required for simulation reduces drastically with our proposed method.
