Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, use of Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (POL-SAR) has become indispensable tool for terrain observation, classification and disaster surveillance. In this report, as a basic research, we aimed at figuring out the polarimetric scattering characteristics of buildings. We measured scattering matrices of miniature model of buildings in a laboratory using a step frequency radar (Network Analyzer). To examine scattering characteristics of the building, we decomposed this scattering matrix into three components (properties of sphere, diplane, helix) and three components scattering power (surface scattering, double bounce, volume scattering). The percentages of each component from the scattering matrix of building are shown in this report.
