Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In robotics research history, "humanoid robot" has been researched by some of researchers from a scientific point of view. However, recently, several researches are carried out with some practical applications in mind. The advancement of-biped walking technology has very much contributed to producing this trend. In 1998, MITI (currently, METI) began "Humanoid Robotics Project (HRP)" as a national project. This paper discusses about the practical importance of humanoid and the future expected application possibility. Also, the current status of HRP will be addressed.
