Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, 3ton-class large-scale geostationary satellites are being developed in the world to respond to the requirements of high-level functions and high performances for the communications and broadcasting satellites. NASDA is developing a 3ton-class geostationary satellite, Engineering Test Satellite-VIII(ETS-VIII)to perform mobile satellite communications, mobile satellite broadcasting and positioning experiments. This paper presents the design and technology of the ETS-VIII satellite bus system. The large deployable reflector installed on the ETS-VIII is also described.
