Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A navigation system using communication satellites is proposed, and its navigation accuracy is analyzed. Satellites have only through-repeaters, as they simply relay navigation-signals from an earth station to users. The accuracy analysis considers internal delays of satellites and earth stations. Any unknown part of these delays causes errors in satellite-position determination and in signal-transmission timing. These two errors can be led to cancellation at user units by means of reasonable system tuning. This enables a domestic system for Japan where unknown satellite/station delays of a few hundred meters would cause a horizontal error small as 1m.
