A Study of the Methodology on the Improvement of Receiving Accuracy of Calling Signals for Mobile Satellite Communications

Abstract(in English) Although the link margin of mobile satellite communications is smaller than that of terrestrial mobile communications, mobile satellite communications by using hand held earth stations at the good propagation condition. However, when earth stations are waiting the receiving call, the propagation condition is not so good in many eases. This paper discusses the capability of ensuring larger link margin on the mobile satellite comnunications using TDMA/SCPC systems. The methodology we discuss is that for the signal of calling earth stations the spread spectrum signal is applied and the TDMA/SCPC signal and the spread spectrum sigumal are overlaid each other on the same frequency band. As the restult of discussion, it is recognized that the link margin of calling signals waiting earth stations is improved for 5 to 15 dB with permitting the reduction of the several dB of the TDMA/SCPC signal link margin, and that the receiving accuracy of calling signals is improved.
