Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Study of wave propagation through random media manifested strong enhancement in the radar cross-section(RCS)for a target with concave-convex surface. When plane waves illuminate a convex portion of the concave-convex conducting target in random media, the normalized radar cross-section (NRCS) to that in free space oscillates about value of two due to the double passage effect under the condition that backscattering enhancement occurs. At certain parameters of target and when the spatial coherence length of incident H-wave becomes comparable with the target of small size, we find that this oscillation becomes resonant and the value of oscillation reaches a maximum. These oscillations in NRCS that happen for partially convex targets are considered as anomalousties in NRCS. This paper reveals numerically anomalousties in RCS for partially convex targets in random media. To investigate that anomalous enhancement which arises from plane waves incidence in random media, we consider the scattering problem for beam wave incidence in free space. We assume that the spot size of the beam wave is equal to the spatial coherence length of incident waves propagating in random media to represent the effect of random media on the plane waves incidence.
