Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A 35GHz fog detection radar was jointly developed by Mitsubishi Electric Corpoation and Kyoto University for the experimental observations of fog. To confirm performance of the radar in fog observation. field tests were made at Kushiro airport, where fog frequently occures during sumertime. The preliminary data analysis reveals detailed 3-dimentional structure of fog within more than 10km range. For examplc, echo top of fog is almmost constant altitude. From Doppler observation, we can see that fog moved from the Pacific Ocean to the land around the airport. From these results, we propose antenna scanning procedure which makes possible to efficiently observe fog charactterisistics.
