A Study on Suppression of Clutter Using Wavelet Transform

Abstract(in English) Unnecessary reflections are contained in the receiving signal in the pulse radar. Rain, snow, and so on become the Causes of the clutter at the time of the bad weather. So far, we have proposed the two-dimensional moving average filter of expanding the pulse integral calculus to suppress the clutter and other methods. These methods used amplitude characteristics, however the frequency characteristics have not been used. This paper describes a method which discriminates the target and clutter with their different frequency characteristics of the detected waves. The discrete wavelet transform is applied because this transform can express the frequency difference more efficiently. A two-dimensional digital filter follows to eliminate the clutter components. The effectiveness of the methods are shown with a couple of examples.
