Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Orbit of geostationary satellites are nomally determined by ranging and/or measurement of azimuth and elevation angles using radio TT&C communication links. In the case, it is difficult to evaluate accurate bias errors in measurements. Optical observation system for geostationary satellites which can measure apparent directions of satellites by comparing the positions of background stars with an accuracy of less than 0.001 degrees has been developed. Configuration of the system equipped with 35 cm diameter telescope, procedures of observation, and the method of satellite position determination are presented. Images and data acquired by the system are also shown.
