Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In designing a satellite constellation to provide mobile satellite communication service, many factors have to be taken into account including transmission delay, service coverage, minimum mobile terminal elevation and space radiation effect. Several mobile satellite communication services are in operation and in preparation. Among those, there are, as it were, Big-LEO such as Iridium, Teledesic with Inter Satellite Links (ISLs) and ICO without ISLs using MEO constellation. As for Iridium, Teledesic, ICO and the satellite constellation examined in our project, comparisons were done from the several viewpoints, and the differences were clarified. From the comparison, adaptability of satellite constellation for a mobile satellite communication was discussed.
