Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For a space-borne hydrogen maser frequency standard, it is severely required to reduce the size and weight without degrading its excellent frequency stability. To meet these requirements, a small sized microwave cavity with high quality factor is necessary. In this paper, TE_<011> mode of a small sapphire loaded dielectric cavity for a space-borne hydrogen maser is analyzed and its design principle is discussed. A small sapphire loaded cavity is developed based on the analysis, and the measured loaded quality factor of the cavity is 53,000, which is consistent with the analysis. It is also discussed on the optimal design of magnetic shield which minimize the weight without degrading the shielding factor.
