Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) has been developing a GPS Receiver for H-IIA Launch Vehicle which has high performance and achieves lower cost to use for flight safety. If the position and speed information obtained from GPS can be used instead of the radar system which is currently used for flight safety, we do not have to maintain the radar station on the ground side. It can reduce the cost, and will enable to meet the fiexible demand of future space transportation. This GPS Receiver will be launched on the first flight of H-IIA (2ton class)for the flight proof experiment in February 2000. The actual operation of GPS Receiver will start from the HTV mission which is the first flight of H-IIA (3ton class)in June 2002. This paper describes the characteristics of the GPS Receiver for H-IIA and shows the effrctiveness by the system analysis. Moreover, it reports the development status up up the engineering model step.
