Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Global Navigation Satellite System, the U.S.GPS at its core but the Russian GLON ASS and other factors also at play, has outgrown its military origin and is producing vast civil applications and markets. While destined to be the basic infrastructure of the 21st Century information age, its core systems are still owned and operated by the military and increasing apprehensions are being voiced of its possible hostile use and the threat of navigation warfare. International implications of the GNSS at the crossroads of civil and national security are summarized, with references to the related activities of the AIAA and the CGSIC.
