Abstract(in English) This paper describes the small satellite development trend these 2 years.Firstly, the definition of small satellite is dicussed and its result shows that to realize small satellites launching is rather important than rigidly defining small satellite with weight. Secondly, the recent topics on small satellites are enumerated to show that development of small satellite is not only conducted by private orgnaizations or universities but also strongly supported by the government and, ormilitary.Thirdly, the current status of LEO satellite communications systems are focused. Finally,it is described that the good environment for easy development of small satellites is going to be facilitated and Japan should tackle to develop small satellites more seriously.
