Abstract(in English) The current status of the fiber-optic gyro for automotive navigation was reviewed.The gyro performance requirements were discused in terms of the input range,resolution,bias error and scale accuracy.The OFG-3,an automotive fiber-optic gyro prototype, was introduced,and the error sources in the gyro were investigated. The gyro electronics restricted the resolution and the bias error, while the optics dominated the scale accuracy.The microcomputer in the electronics compensated for the errors,and the OFG-3 met the navigational requirements.Vehicle navigation was demonstratrd using the gyro in combination with a map-matching algorithm.
