Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have been working on determination of the raindrop size distribution(DSD)from Doppler spectra observed with a VHF radar(MU radar).Simultaneous observations with a L-band Doppler radar(BLR) were made during April - August 1992.While the MU radar can observe turbulence scattering from the background air simultaneously with the precipitation echo, the BLR can observe echoes from small-size rain drops, since the latter observes echoes only from rain drops under precipitating conditions. This paper presents the evolution of DSD as derived from the BLR with the aid of the MU radar.
