A Multiple Open-Loop AFC for MPSK

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a multiple open-loop automatic frequency control (AFC), which accomplishes fast initial acquisition, accurate frequency estimation arid wide frequency coverage. The proposed AFC operates as follows: 1) it prepares several differential detection type frequency error detectors with different differential symbols; 2) it estimates wide and precise frequency error by open-loop based on frequency errors detected by them. In this paper, excellent performances, e.g., accuracy of frequency estimation and tracking capability on time-varying frequency, are confirmed by analysis and computer simulation. In addition, a loop-reduction criterion with negligible performance degradation is proposed based on these analytically derived results, in order to reduce its complexity.
