Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents the geostationary satellite system for communications using handheld terminals. An aperture of 10 to 15 m reflectors and multi-beam techniques can provide comparable services with non-geostationary orbit satellite systems. The on-board antenna configurations with large deployable reflectors and active phased array primary radiators are described. Also discussed are a beam allocation, a frequency reuse method and a beam pattern. Offset-parabola type antenna is superior to imaging reflector type in the viewpoint of mass, volume and satellite configuration. This paper also discussed the construction method of modular mesh deployable reflector.
