Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Using some SPOT HRV images covering Taklimakan Desert in China and a semi-arid zone on the center of Australia, the assessments of vegetation in arid and semi-arid zones with Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Vegetation Cover (VC) are made. As a result, VC is more effective than NDVI in arid and semi-arid zones. And in some cases, the effective parings are Visible Green and Visible Red for red soil backgrounds in the center of Australia.
