Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The required navigation performance (RNP) is a description of navigation accuracy of aircraft. The RNP type is represented by 95% containment band of errors. The meaning of the containment band differs according to the dimension of errors, e.g., one-dimensional or two-dimensional. Both dimensions are used for describing RNP types in the aviation world. In this paper, the two-dimensional (circular) containment is compared with one-dimensional one assuming the Gaussian and the double exponential(DE) error distributions and several problems are reviewed.
