Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) At present, LEO-SAR (Low Earth Orbit Search and Rescue) system utilizing the COSPAS/SARSAT has been developed and in service. Since this satellite is a polar orbital satellite, incommunicable duration is occurred on the LEO-SAR system opration. Therefore, a supplemental observation is required by utilizing GEO (Geosynchronous Earth Orbit)-SAR system. In order to verify the feasibility and efficiency of GEO-SAR system, various experiment were carried out by using GMS-5 (Geostationary Meteorological Satellite). Simultaneous processing ability to detect and demodulate several weak distress signals is required for GEO-SAR receiving system. The result of the unit experiment for the receiving system was almost sufficient. Although the performance of satellite link was degraded due to the interference caused by undesired signals, an experimental distress massages could be demodulated and regenerated. Consequently GEO-SAR system is successfully verified to be feasible and efficient.
