Abstract(in English) This paper describes the onboard technology developments in Advanced Space Communications Research Laboratory (ASC) for realizing handheld personal satellite communications systems at low cost and high quality sound broadcating throughout Japan. ASC first conducted a system study and found that the key equipments for realizing the services above include large deployable antennas, high efficiency and high power amplifiers, and an onboard processor, which enable us to make communicate among mobile terminals via satellite. This paper describes the activities in ASC.
