Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The objectives of the COMETS advanced mobile satellite communications experiments are to develop basic technology, and to assess the feasibility of future mobile and personal satellite communications in the Ka-band and mm-wave. The system for the experiments consists of a space segment, some mobile/personal stations, and two hub stations. The satellite will be launched into a geostationary orbit in August 1997. CRL is developing the torus reflector antenna for a mobile mm-wave antenna. A prototype was produced using physical optics method. The measured antenna gain of this prototype is about 17 dB, main beam beam-width of the elevation is about 15 deg and that of azimuth is about 10 deg.
