Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Detection of a radar transponder for search and rescue depends greatly on the state of sea waves. To estimate this dependency we generated random sea waves in a computer using a sea wave spectral model and calculated whether, or not, the beam from the transponder is obstructed by sea waves. The results show that the signal detection is dependent on the various sea states and search conditions. We also calculated the detection probability of the transponder during the various sea states.
