Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The Advanced Space Communications Research Laboratory (ASC) has been carrying out a R&D project of mobile communication system and sound broadcasting system in S-band. In this project, ASC is developing key devices such as on-board processor using regenerative repeating, high power amplifiers and multibeam antenna feeder which will be installed in the Engineering Test Satellite VIII (ETS-VIII) being launched in 2002. This paper describes outline of development of S-band mobile communications and sound broadcasting mission in ETS-VIII. The role of GEO satellite system in mobile communications is also described.
