Guidance to Destinations Using Search of Each Road Line or Routes in the Road Guide Sign Boards Network

Abstract(in English) The road guide sign boards are facilities to guide destinations for drivers on road traffic. We describe two methods to construct newly the road guide sign boards network to optimize for drivers, in this paper. In first method, the names on the boards are chosen from destinations that exist on the road line. In second method, the routes between all intersections and all destination points are searched, the destination names are guided by the boards on the routes. We applied to construct the road guide sign networks by these methods for real road network in Northwest CHIBA prefecture area, and we confirmed that these networks guidance effectiveness is higher than real networks one in an application area.
