Investigation of the resistivity structure in the central part of the northeastern Japan

Abstract(in English) Wideband (20,000Hz to 0.0002Hz) magnetotelluric (MT) observations have been conducted in the central part of Tohoku district, northeastern Japan to investigate the deep resistivity structure for a better understanding of the mechanisms of earthquake occurrence and volcanic activity in the subduction region. MT data are obtained on the three east-west MT transects which are separated by 20km. To get reliable results, we conducted two dimensional modeling. We also conducted Groom-Bailey decomposition method and transient electromagnetic method (TEM) to reject the effects of the surface inhomogenuity.
