Abstract(in English)	Japanese society's requirements for the Japanese toll Collection system are as follows : ・To realize automatic toll collection without stopping at the toll gate and thus mitigate toll plaza traffic congestion and provide better customer service. ・To further accommodate toll collection system which can be adapted Japanese "cashless" economy and thus provide additional financial transaction option for customer.. ・To cut the operating and labor cost of toll collection and thus realize better financial management. The Japanese ETC system R&D project started under these conditions. This paper presents the outline on the ETC which OKI proposed.
