Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose an image enhancement technique based on the wavelet local maxima control. The wavele maxima describes the characteristics of image edges by its multiscale nature. We propose the control method of the amplitude of maxima by addition of the synthesis wavelet basis. The proposed control method requires only a pair of the course and inverse wavelet transform. The high frequency components of the image can be estimated through the modification of the wavelet local maxima. We apply the control method to the image enhancement and the resolution enhancement. The comparison between the fuzzy controlled unsharp masking technique and the nonlinear estimation method based on the Laplacian pyramid image representation is demonstrated.
