Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In network environment where wired and wireless TCP connections share the network resources, unfair bandwidth sharing between them occurs due to additional delay for link layer retransmission control of wireless link. In this paper, we propose a packet-discarding technique to improve the fairness at a gateway link which both connections share. In the proposed technique, the gateway randomly discards both TCP segments with different probabilities. In order to achieve fair share of network bandwidth, packet-discarding probabilities are dynamically assigned to the wired and wireless connections according to the degree of degradation of wireless connections. Computer simulation result show that the proposed technique can improve the fairness.
