Abstract(in English) | This paper presents analysis of the timing jitter characteristics for the timing recovery scheme using a prefilter in the baseband polar system, BPSK and QPSK with AWGN, and discusses quantitatively the effects of a prefilter on jitter reduction. Employing a prefilter, the S × S component of timing jitter is suppressed. According to the numerical calculation of rms jitter for QPSK with a timing tank having Q of 100 as a function of E_b/N_o,the effects of a prefilter on jitter reduction are shown by a noticeable difference more than 10dB of E_b/N_o. The effects grow remarkably large with the increasing E_b/N_o and with the decreasing rolloff factor. The total rms jitter with a prefilter is almost inversely proportional to square root of E_b/N_o, that means the S × N component is dominant in an ordinary range of E_b/N_o. |
