Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The authors previously proposed a dynamic capacity allocation scheme using threshold control in an input and output buffered ATM switch. In this method, the output VC queue length is compared with the threshold value for each VC settled in the output buffer, and then VC capacity is equivalently controlled by dynamically allocating appropriate read out speed for the input buffer VC queue. In case of non-uniform traffic load, fairness among VC degrades if the threshold values are uniformly fixed for all the VCs. This paper proposes an enhanced mechanism where threshold value for each VC is individually varied taking account of each traffic load. Simulation results revealed that the newly proposed scheme with variable threshold improves fairness and delay performance even for non-uniform traffic loading.
