Abstract(in English) The ATM-PON(Passive Optical Network)technology is one of solutions to accommodate many users on one ATM interface. The media access control technology, referred to as DBA(Dynamic Bandwidth Assignment), is one of issues to enhance capability of ATM-PON. DBA provides dynamic resource allocation for upstream traffic flows to efficiently transfer burst traffics. This paper surveys control mechanisms for DBA from several points of view. Then, it compares them to obtain good solutions for the ATM-PON technology in the next step.
