| 抄録(和) | 非線形光ファイバカップラーの伝搬モードをガウス形分布近似することにより、エバネッセント場の重なりを考慮に入れて非線形結合特性を数値解析した。コア半径4μm、コア間隔5μm、コア屈折率1.455、非線形屈折1.1×10^<-13>esuの場合、波長1.06μmのときJensenの論文^<(1)>における平面波近似では非線形結合係数Q_3=3.7×10^<-12>cm^<-1>、Q_4=Q_5=0となる。一方、ガウス形分布近似ではQ_3=2.5×10^<-12>cm^<-1>、Q_4=2.2×10^<-14>cm^<-1>、Q_5=7.3×10^<-14>cm^<-1>となりQ_4、Q_5は無視できない。このコア間隔を広くすると完全結合の周期が長くなること、又波長が長くなるとその周期が短くなることがわかった。さらに、非線形結合特性の波長依存性についても計算して、急峻なバンドパスフィルターになることを確認した。 |
| 抄録(英) | By assuming a Gaussian distribution for the mode field propagating in nonlinear optical fiber couplers, switching characteristics of incident power are evaluated numerically taking account of the overlap between the two modes. Assuming of a core radius 4μm, a waveguide separation 5μm, a refractive index of core 1.455, and a nonlinear refractive index 1.1×10^<-13>esu, then the nonlinear coupling coefficients Q_3=2.5×10^<-12>cm^<-1>, Q_4=2.2×10^<-14>cm^<-1>, and Q_5=7.3×10^<-14>cm^<-1> are obtained within the Gaussian field approximation, while Q_3=3.7×10^<-12>cm^<-1> and Q_4=Q_5=0 are derived for the plane wave approximation as in Jensen's paper. The coupling length for switching of incident power increases with an increase of the separation between the two adjacent waveguides. Also, the coupling length is reduced as the wavelength increases. From the dependence of nonlinear coupling on wavelength, it is confirmed that a wavelength selective characteristic with a sharp band-pass filtering can be obtained in the nonlinear directional coupler. |
