Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We studied on common amplification characteristics of EDFAs with high alminium concentration for wavelength-division-multiplxed signal. The wavelength dependence of gain largely relies on EDF length as well as imput signal power. It has been shown that gain and S/N incursion between channels can be suppressed within 0.2dB by optimizing the EDF length if channels are located in the wavelength range of 1544 to 1558nm. We also conducted 6-stage amplification experiments for 16ch WDM signal and realized flat common amplification of 0.02dB/nm/stage, which implies that gain equalizers are unnecessary.
