Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, a structure of JPEG/MPEG-compatible subband codec (SBC) system is proposed on the basis of the generalized lapped orthogonal transform (GenLOT). Compatible here means the ability of SBC systems to encode and decode the standard bit-streams. Since our proposed structure consists of the discrete cosine transform (DCT) employed in JPEG and MPEG, the compatibility can be simply achieved. The structure also enables us to process DCT coefficients and subband signals of GenLOT in common. Furthermore, it employs an efficient structure of GenLOT for finete-duration sequences, which based on the symmetric extension method, so as to avoid the size-increasing of subband signals. Hence, our proposed structure is shown to provide all efficient JPEG/MPEG-compatible SBC system, which has no redundancy due to the signal extension and no size-increasing. In addition, it has an advantage or no checkerboard artifact addressed for SBC system.
