Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a new procedure to extract region contours by using active contour models(Snakes)in low signal-to-noise ratio images, such as medical ultrasound images, on which the shapes and positions of object are unknown. This method includes the technique to unify the control points and to produce the first contours with its skeleton functions on density gradient vectors.A simulation study was emplyed, and then the method was applied to medical breast ultrasound images with masses. It was found that the proposed method is useful because the sensivity of the system was 89%.
