Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) It is an important problem for image processing to reduce the mixed noise in an image, which contains impulsive noise and white Gaussian noise. This paper proposes a new design of data-dependent α-trimmed mean filters using counter propagation networks. The optimal value of α in each processing point is obtained by using the pattern classification ability of counter propagation networks. In the processing of reminder, the edge preserving is also considered. Therefore, the proposed filter has the ability of edge preserving and mixed noise reduction, simultaneously. Finally, to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed technique, some simulation examples are shown.
