Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we discuss about the parameter region where the 3rd order oscillator with only one equilibium point at origin generates chaos. When the nonlinear characteristic is asymmetric, the limit cycle produced by Hopf bifurcation becomes asymmetric. Therefore, it is expected that limit cycle bifurcates into chaos via period-doubling bifurcation as a parameter is varied. In fact, chaos is confirmed by computer simulation. On the other hand, when the nonlinear characteristic is odd symmetric, the periodic orbit becomes odd symmetric. In this case, it seems that chaos via period-doubling bifurcation is impossible. In practice, however, it is found that the symmetric limit cycle bifurcates into two asymmetric ones and that these bifurcate into chaos via period-doubling bifurcation, respectively. In both cases, our hypothesis that a stable limit cycle must be asymmmetric in order to bifurcate into chaos via period-doubling route is satisfied.
