Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a digital reaction-diffusion system-a model of discrete-time discretespace reaction-diffusion dynamical systems-for intelligent signal processing applications. The original idea is based on the Turing's model of pattern formation which is widely knoen in mathematical biology. We first show that the Turing's morphogenesis can be understood by the pattern forming property of the digital reaction-diffusion system and that the system's behavior can be analyzed within the framework of multidimensional digital signal processing theory. This paper also discusses the application of the digital reaction-diffusion system to signal processing tasks, such as enhancement and restoration of texture images.
