Transient Simulation of Lossy Interconnects Based on Efficient Waveform Relaxation Technique

Abstract(in English) A new algorithm,which is incorporated into the waveform relaxation analysis,to compute the transient response of a lossy transmission line terminated with linear or non linear loads is presented.In this approach,the waveform relaxation analysis of a lossy transmission line is carried out in sequential time windows of size equal to the delay of the line.Reflected waveforms corresponding to each window are computed accurately in advance, rather than the usual approach of guessing them.By this approach the near end and far end subcircuits are totally decoupled in the time windows equal to the delay of the line.As a result we can obtain accurate waveforms with a single iteration.Comparison of CPU times,required for simulating example circuits,indicates that the present method speeds up the simulation by a factor of nearly equal to n,where n is the number of iterations requered for the satinvergence by the previous nonwindow technique.Therefore the present method is more efficient in those cases where the convergence requires several iterations.
