A study of IFS coding for color images

Abstract(in English) A new IFS coding scheme is put forward for the color image compression.The present coding method is accompanied with the transformation from RGB to YIQ coordinate system so as to reduce the bit rate per pixel as well as with the IFS coding for each YIQ components.Making use of the nonlinear optimal quantization for YIQ components,it is found to be effective to apply the present method to the color image data compression in comparison with the conventional DCT scheme.From the computer simulation,the potentiality of the present new scheme is found to be beyond the conventional IFS one in RGB coordinates especially from the view point of the edge reconstruction and the visible blocking artifact.
