Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A liquid drop on a highly heated plate is suspended on a thin vapor sheet by rapid evaporation, and forms a flat disk shape. The experiment revealed that the liquid drop shows a characteristic vibration with a polygonal plane view. The mechanism of this vibration is investigated theoretically by a model baesd on the nonuniformity of the vapor flow between liquid drop and the hot plate. The result of linear stability analysis shows that the drop is stable in the conditions corresponding to the experiment.A possibility is suggested to understand the mschanism in terms of the effects of surface tension.
