Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, we propose Reed-Solomon coded optical code-division multiple-access(CDMA) with pulse position modulation(PPM) using threshold detection for the receiver. In the proposed system, correlator outputs of PPM slots are compared with a threshold level. When the number of correlator outputs exceeding the threshold level is either more than two or zero, the PPM symbol is decided as "a symbol erasure". Generally, RS code can correct more "symbol erasures" than "symbol errors". Therefore, the number of correctable symbols by RS code increases, and proposed system can reduce the effect of multiple access interference (MAI). We analyze performance of the proposed system and show that the proposed system has better bit error probability than the conventional system using maximum-value detection.
