Abstract(in English) Optical packet switching networks need optical packet buffers to resolve packet contention. Optical packet buffers can be realized using optical delay line and these optical-delay-line-based buffers fall into two categories : the recirculating type and the traveling type. This letter reports the demonstration of a variable optical delay circuit with wavelength converters. The delay time is controlled by varying the initial wavelength λ_ of the signal. This type of delay circuit is capable of regenerating signals, handling variable-length packets, and reducing the volume of the buffer.
